Naturally Glamourous

Sachi Interior Design Sdn Bhd has pushed the boundaries of design once again with its own rendition of a luxurious Cosmopolitan home that draws inspiration from Hong Kong and Western homes.

Gone were the days when we were so definitively distinguished by our culture and geographical location. With the rise of technology, particularly the World Wide Web, the human civilisation has taken a step towards post-modernism as the human race has evolved into a more demanding and sophistication market due to the influx of information so readily available. It should come to no surprise that such a movement is reflected in the designs of our home as a natural progression. Today, it is difficult to trace designs back to a single source of inspiration and this collective feature is the result of the converging world.

In this particular project, the design team from Sachi Interior Design Sdn Bhd have made use of design elements from various parts of the world to produce a posh yet immensely comfortable living space out of this grand mansion. It starts with the exterior. Modelled after those that appear in famous films and TV shows, this majestic mansion features a huge front yard that diverges into the basement garage and the front car porch next to the main entrance to the house.

Reflecting its regal structure, the interior architecture of this mansion inspires the same elegance and grandeur that made the residence look truly enormous inside and out. At the main living hall, the design team has decided to make full use of its extra high ceiling to introduce a marvellous wall-to-ceiling design feature that is based on a beehive. Drawing inspiration from Mother Nature’s natural-born architect, the feature pays tribute to the wonders of the world, as well as acting as a great conversation piece.

Another prominent feature of this design lies in its application of marble surfaces. Conventionally adored for its classy appearance and unique grains, marble finishing is often view as a reflection of one’s social status. By mixing this opulent material with rustic wood finishes, the design team have found a balance between luxury and comfort, which subsequently transformed this mansion into a great place to entertain guests, host gatherings, as well as serve as a restful sanctuary where the family can relax and rejuvenate.

Aside from its aesthetics, the selection of materials and furniture pieces plays a huge role in personalising a particular space with its own character, as well as to enhance the functionality of the room for the activities it is catered for. The full-height glass windows draw in natural light into the interior, while the open space layout and the absence of impairing pillars or walls have paved the way for a grand and spacious home design that sets itself apart from most local designs. This can only be achieved with properly-reinforced ceilings to hold the structure together, thus allowing the design team to make do without these additional pillars. It is amazing how this tiny detail is all it takes to give the interior a completely different look.
