Art’s created and enjoyed by many people for many reasons. For this homeowner, their art collection is their pride and joy so the designer turned the home to an art gallery. Drawing inspiration from art galleries with a touch of modern industrial style, the designer kept most of the focus on the homeowner’s private art collection.
A condominium unit in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur turned into an art gallery when Sheila, an interior designer allowed art as her primary influence behind all her design choices.
As soon as you walk in there, you will find a wall adorned with artwork lit by mini spotlights immediately on their right. Complimented with the real rough stone materials and also served to highlight the owner’s taste and lifestyle.
The lighting is rather on the soft end from a few selected exceptions and the decor is deceptively simple so it will not overpower the art.
The opposite wall past the dining area is similarly decorated with several of the homeowner’s sculptures which sits on the floating shelves and are illuminated with light green under-shelf lightings.
Despite not having any such items, the living area maintains the gallery feel with the brown marble-like wall while having a light blue dropped ceiling light box.
Further inside, the impression is reinforced thanks to a hallway that mimics the walls framing the entryway by displaying a piece of art while the other has a bookcase liberally filled with books and more figurines.
In contrast, the bedrooms maintain their aura of privacy by having wood as the primary element of their designs instead. As the dècor for the master bedroom embraces wood to its fullest with its wood floor panel, solid wood bed frame and laminated wood grain walls and dark brown curtains.
