In July 2017, citizenM has welcomed its latest hotel in Taiwan’s cosmopolitan capital of Taipei. Brought into Asia by Artyzen Hospitality Group, the new hotel (named citizenM Taipei North Gate Hotel) is suited directed opposite of the city’s historical site and only a short walking distance to both the Taipei Main Station and the Airport Express terminal. The debut in Asia marks a significant milestone for this Dutch brand. Differing from conventional hotels, citizenM breaks the mould by offering only one room category that is ingeniously designed around sleeping and lounging on the comfy XL-size bed. An intuitive and handy in-room tablet moodpad controls everything from the television and alarms to room temperature, blinds and ambient lighting, allowing guests to tailor their hotel experience.
The traditional lobby has been replaced with a stylish entrance area featuring an oak-cladded spiral staircase, a signature citizenM cabinet decorated with local art pieces and souvenirs, as well as high-quality Vitra furniture pieces. On top of that, its exterior wall is personalized with a vibrant anime and pop culture art piece created by Taipei’s up and coming local graffiti artist, ANO. Other art installations in the hotel include works from famous Taiwanese photographer Chou Ching Hui’s Animal Farm collection and Taiwan contemporary artist. Hung Tung-Lu’s interactive art piece named “Lightbox”.
