Wood and stone elements were used to their maximum potential in this spacious condominium unit which pays homage to nature’s timeless appeal.
A self-proclaimed elite residential oasis in the affluent neighbourhood of Mont’Kiara, Residensi22 is defined by the developers’ belief that perfection is in the details. As a result, the development’s suites were designed to offer as much uniqueness and comfort as possible. Picking up where the architects left off, Sam Leong helped fulfil one occupant’s wish for their unit to be turned into a truly modern abode that still captures the subtle beauty of nature.
Demonstrating the dedication to this aesthetic is the fact that the abode’s main social areas which are all located in one large open space boasts a palette dominated by earthy tones with a few complementary colours thrown into the mix. For starters, light brown floor tiles have been matched with a pure white recessed ceiling in order to highlight the fine details of everything in-between such as the light wood wall panels that still retain their beautiful natural grain. While they all adhere to the given colour scheme, each area establishes its own identity with the help of unique features and furnishings.
Where the living area is concerned, a light grey L-shaped sofa and a large brown patterned rug define the space’s borders without the need for a proper partition. Continuing the theme is the solid wood coffee table which has a half-glass sunken top and the solid wood wall-mounted television cabinet with a white marble top. A large brown marble slab covers the wall behind the television while a brown glass mirror occupies a small space next to it, adding some much-needed variety in terms of texture to the area. The one thematic departure is the upholstered one-seater which is in a complementary shade of red.
Right next to the living area is the dining area which is bracketed on the other side by a black-framed cabinet with dark wood doors and a white marble top pressed up against the wall. The grey glass covering this surface, systematically broken up into panels by thin metal strips, adds to the sense of spaciousness that the already expansive home already boasts. Furnished with a white marble-top dining table and black upholstered dining chairs, it exudes the comfortable atmosphere ideal for family meals. The area gets another layer of character from the four bronze pendant lights hanging overhead and the two pieces of abstract artwork resting on the cabinet.
Showcasing a slight departure from the established theme is the kitchen which is predominantly stone grey from its kitchen island to the padded chairs paired with it although a touch of brown is still present through the cabinet doors. However, the highlight of this area is undoubtedly the partition wall covered entirely in brown glass mirrors which separates the kitchen from the small open workspace on the other side. With its light grey cabinets and glass-top solid wood counter table, this space can double as a relaxation area where one can enjoy a quiet board game.
The fine balance of white and brown is restored for the master bedroom which utilises fabric and glass in its décor in order to offset the room’s wood flooring and furnishings. This was accomplished by covering the stretch of wall behind the bed with white upholstered panels and a section of wall next to it with black glass. Meanwhile, the other bedroom sets itself apart with a wall covered in grey textured paint that resembles marble, a wooden bed with three raised sides and in-built storage space. Providing both uniqueness and practicality is the black wall board with holes where the occupant can hang their belongings.
