Well-balanced both in terms of its core concept and its themed interior, this showhouse does an excellent job of portraying an urban lifestyle free from the busyness of the city.
Inspired by a diverse range of cultures and complemented by nature and technology, Setia Eco Glades is a well-crafted collection of thematically-different islands nestled in the iconic location that is Cyberjaya. It effortlessly blends residential opulence with eco-consciousness, resulting in lavish abodes surrounded by carefully conserved flora and fauna.
Jazzbi Chew and her design team were brought in by the developer to turn the project’s semi-D showhouse into an outstanding display unit which could double as a practical abode that could be occupied immediately. Taking into account their client’s request as well as the spirit of the entire development, they implemented a modern contemporary concept anchored by a colour scheme threaded with sky blue. The result is a calm and tranquil atmosphere that immediately washes over anyone who steps inside.
A key interior design trend that permeates the entire showhouse is the use of geometric shapes and forms which also manifested themselves as decorative patterns and prints. Consequently, it has an interesting, bright and modern interior with finely balanced and harmonised spaces. Paired with the right design choices, these geometric elements not only add character but help establish a type of visual flow. This is evident from the start as the long stretch of low ceiling that begins at the entrance continues onwards through the living, dining and kitchen areas. Additionally, the left wall boasts a monochrome whalebone pattern that extends all the way to the corner.
The kitchen island which doubles as the breakfast table on the immediate right serves as a luxurious focal point of the showhouse with its black marble surfaces, padded high chairs and designer pendant lights. Its lavishness is tempered somewhat with the decision to match the black marble which was also used for the kitchen countertop and backsplash with wooden kitchen cabinets. Adding a touch of nature to the space are the hanging vines that have been placed on the wall-mounted shelves high above.
With the dining area, a more casual atmosphere was established by using wood as the main element in the form of the dining table and pairing it with denim upholstered chairs. Here, the project’s geometric theme is represented by the modern chandelier overhead and the fascinating metal artwork adorning the nearby wall. Meanwhile, some eye-catching contrast is provided by the glass-topped copper bronze side table placed near the opposite wall.
This balance is also achieved in the living area through a fascinating combination of furnishings and decorative items. Wood panels cover the wall behind the television, giving the space a rich touch of natural beauty that is accentuated by the small plants and nature-themed art pieces on the television cabinet. Meanwhile, the white L-shaped sofa, grey rug and bright blue Husk chair add some much-welcome texture to the mix. Completing the look and serving as representations of the geometric theme are the black quartz-topped coffee table and grey dichroic rattan chair.
Upstairs, geometric patterns are used extensively to thematically unify the many rooms while giving each of them a unique personality at the same time. In the case of the lounge, two-toned irregular geometric patterns cover the ceiling and one wall. Similarly, the other two bedrooms which each have their own defining geometric pattern represented in a unique fashion. One has triangles of multiple materials covering the wall behind the bed while the other has hexagonal mirrors arranged in an incomplete honeycomb pattern on the wall facing the bed.
Simple and spacious, the master bedroom is mostly defined by rectangles with the workstation and the grey tiles covering the partition wall behind the bed. Grey fabrics were used instead of white in order to prolong the furnishing’s usability as well as provide some contrast with the rich wood flooring. Keeping the sleeping area separate from the walk-in closet and master bathroom are frosted glass doors which add to the room’s overall sense of spaciousness.
