The beauty of one of Putrajaya’s iconic bridges is distilled into a stylishly urban concept for a home that dazzles occupants and visitors alike with bright colours and unique designs.
Overlooking the pristine Putrajaya Lake, Tamara Residence provides its tenants with an undeniable atmosphere of relaxation that is further enforced by the lush landscaped greenery surrounding it. A lucky individual living in this condominium wanted their home to reflect the beauty of Putrajaya’s urban landscape as well as the development’s natural surroundings to a smaller extent. Pui Wee Chong took all this into consideration and came up with a modern chic concept that was heavily inspired by the Seri Wawasan Bridge which is visible from the home’s balcony.
Drawing on the bridge’s asymmetrical shape and unique appearance, the residence is rich with dramatic designs that are primarily defined by clean diagonal lines. Additionally, the bridge’s changeable colour lighting which is turned on at night led to the application of splashes of bright tones at strategic points and locations throughout the abode. This was achieved not only through paint but also select pieces of furniture, fittings and artworks. In order to highlight this design choice, the home has a predominantly white palette with accompanying dashes of black.
Aside from the nearby walls that have been painted a soothing shade of blue, the dining area gets another splash of colour from its bright yellow upholstered dining chairs. Paired with a reflective black dining table, they command attention without being overwhelming. Giving the space more personality without taking away from the chairs are the white French wall panels decorating the nearby stretch of wall. On the opposite side, a large mirror magnifies the area’s sense of spaciousness with ease.
In the living area, green is the star as it covers the wall behind the light grey L-shaped couch. Doubling as a nod to the verdant nature around the condominium, it is an excellent backdrop that adds character to the area at the same time. Completing the established aesthetic of the space is the dark brown television cabinet and the coffee table which both have their beautiful wood grain on full display. A large square bluish-grey rug underfoot, while a departure from the theme, provides some warm and comfortable functionality.
However, it is the master bedroom further inside that manages to achieve the perfect balance with its design which combines both of the overarching concept’s sources of inspiration. Instead of a traditional headboard, the wall behind the bed has been decorated with a mixture of wood grain panels and white textured paint. Separated by diagonally-cut strips of black laminates and framed by thin gold-coloured strips, they evoke the image of the iconic Seri Wawasan Bridge. Meanwhile, the hardwood flooring, green bedspread and dark teal colour of the dresser area effortlessly call to mind the lush greenery outside.
In contrast, the other two bedrooms have a more overwhelmingly urban feel to them that is expressed through a largely monochrome palette. Nevertheless, they still have their own unique traits that set them apart from one another. The more spacious bedroom boasts wall panels with irregular ridges doubling as the bed’s headboard while the bed in the other bedroom craftily offers hidden storage space in the form of a large drawer in its base.
