Charged with the task of producing a design to help enhance the appeal of this property development, the designer from Latitude Design went with a trendy contemporary design by drawing inspiration from famed painter, Piet Mondrian. Vibrant primary colours, grid motifs and black lines were tastefully balanced with trendy details to provide a homely and visually attractive interior to this 895 square feet show unit meant for young couples and small families. Upon entering the premise, guests immediately arrived at the fully-functional kitchen area that is furnished with overhead storages and a kitchen island.
With dining area just next to the kitchen, the dining table is extended from the kitchen island, doubles as a breakfast counter for quick and casual meals. A designer clock and a collection of mirror panels separated into a grid design through black lines gave the dining area an intriguing feature wall that expands the space visually. Towards the other hand of the hall where the living room is situated at, the designer fashioned the space with a classy TV panel design made of soft cushion materials that comes with a hidden socket and a mirror frame. Directly opposite, the wall behind the sofa is converted into another feature through a Mondrian-inspired artwork, combining materials such as clear mirrors, tinted mirrors, stainless steel and wood laminate harmoniously. Track lights are used to add to the authenticity of its design.
Zig-zagged across the entire hall, these visual enhancements do wonders in keeping the eyes busy, thus creating the illusion of space. Similarly, this technique was applied in the bedrooms as well as study room to optimise and rationalise space usage. Vertical mirror strips, clean-cut lines and a simple earth-tone palette brought out the sleek qualities of its contemporary design in the master bedroom; the children’s bedroom was given a cute pastel colour selection with plenty of storages and a play space in its centre. At the same time, the smallest room of this showroom was converted into a cosy study room furnished with a study desk, overhead shelves and storage cabinets alongside mirrors to expand the room’s space.
