Revisiting design trends from the past is not just a fad but it is also a necessity to preserving an era, heritage, culture that could be completely forgotten. Bringing the charm of Victorian era to an Asian setting might be risky but it is one that has paid off handsomely for Nevermore Group.
A vacation to Penang is never complete if you don’t visit Tanjung Bungah – a seaside suburb located between Gurney and Batu Feringghi. Originally a sleepy fishing village, it has risen in popularity over the years to become one of Penang’s most popular tourist destinations. Apart from being a tourist attraction, over the years, Tanjung Bungah has rapidly developed to a town that provides something for residents of Tanjung Bungah and tourists visiting it.
One of the townships that have caught the eye and attention is Permai Village for nestled within this freehold township is 2 Permai, an upscale residential project by BSG Property that o ers its habitants a haven of serenity and exclusivity. Within this enclave lies an abode that will transport you to the Victorian era. Looking deceptively similar to the other homes within the township, from the outside, this home is an embodiment of Modern European design concept.
As you walk through the entrance, the splendour of the space will have you rooted to the spot, giving your eyes the time it needs to take in the majestic appearance that is achieved by leaning towards the ‘less is more’ ideal. Combining classic, modern, and simple ideas into one, the space revives the classic European design into a modern era. To make the design concept work, the team used shades of brown, black, white, and grey and complemented it with modern and trendy furniture without ornate nishing. Though there are very few windows visible, the living area appears spacious, bright, and airy thanks to the choice of colours and limiting the furniture items.
Easily the stand-out in the demure living area is the 10’ porcelain slabs that serve as the TV wall. The porcelain slabs, popularized in Europe, give the room an edgy appearance. Another noteworthy element is the bar that has been built using imported Ice Jade marble. Ice Jade is an exotic marble from China. Due to its unique structure, the Ice Jade has very high translucent properties and is the perfect alternative to white onyx. The Ice Jade marble with its natural micro cracks and greenish veins on it gives it an antique-vibe while still tting in the modern, elegant mould. Simple pendant lighting overhanging the bar completes the look.
If the living area is demure, bright and vibrant, the bedroom on the other hand is an attractive contrast. Dark furnishing takes over but with natural light pouring in through celling-to- oor window, the room is bright and sunny. Decadent is the only word that comes to mind when one looks at the headboard and the adjacent wall in deep chocolate hue. Simple accent furniture and lighting bring the room to live. The walk-in wardrobe though is modernity through and through with glass and mirror occupying the room.
