For this Mercedes-Benz showroom café, Sachi Interior Design opted for a modern retro look that reflects both the brand’s long history and its continued prominence in its industry.
One of the most well-known and globally acclaimed names in the automobile industry, Mercedes-Benz is strongly associated with elegance, class and sophistication. It has a strong presence in the country thanks to its local branch Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Hap Seng Star Sdn Bhd which has been its authorised dealer for over 40 years. Together, both entities have been working closely together to further enhance the brand’s reach to a broader audience. One of their efforts to accomplish that goal is the recently launched the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-owned Centre by Hap Seng Star, a dealership that carries pre-owned Mercedes-Benz vehicles located in Bandar Kinrara Industrial Park in Puchong, Selangor.
In order to give its customers the true Mercedes-Benz experience from start to end, the building also houses a café that, in the hands of self-described lifestyle taste-maker company Sachi Interior Design Sdn Bhd, not only reflects the prestige of the Mercedes-Benz name but also compares favourably to other Mercedes-Benz showroom cafés across the globe. With modern retro as the core theme, Sachi came up with the idea to shape the space into a lifestyle café that flawlessly blends modern technology with retro design choices. The overall look has a retro feel to it which is meant to reflect Mercedes-Benz’s long history.
Meanwhile, the modern finishes that highlight the retro nature of the establishment represent the numerous technological advancements that have kept its cars relevant over the years. Wood is a primary element in the café and the biggest contributor to its retro ambiance, having been used for the flooring and the majority of the seats and tables. A departure from this is the café counter which has a mottled stone base and a black marble top that help it to stand out.
The same can of course be said of the two-seater sofas off to the side which instead match the theme by being dull grey in colour, allowing them to effortlessly match all the wood around them. Sachi also drew on the designs of Mercedes-Benz cars for inspiration as part of its endeavour to make the café the hidden gem of the main building which is a refurbished warehouse. The result is a mesmerising network of anodised copper pipes with special details and smooth curves that cover the wall behind the counter and frame the door leading to the kitchen. Another inspired touch is the collection of elegantly classic retro-styled light balls which hang from the ceiling and give the café a soft warm atmosphere.
