Every which way we embark on a journey we’re only accompanied by one thing for sure: doubt. But against all odds, there were two who made it.
Two unknowns: Simon Yew and Terence Tang were little more than pedestrian interior designers at the onset of their careers; at least to the rest of us that’s what they were. Starting off like any interior designer, Simon and Terence had dreams aplenty and an abundance of creativity to unfetter and somehow, years later, manage to end up being household names in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Shanghai. Their collective effort comes in the form of ST Concepts which they built in 2003; back then it didn’t stand out; it was no different from any start-up business in the local scene.
Hailing from Penang, these two’s passionate affair with interior design culminated in an ST Concepts that is, today, thriving regionally. Presently, ST Concepts holds a strong presence for luxurious designs across the board: from mid- to high-profile projects; and from residential to commercial property types. Recognisably skilled in flipping over and seeing any project through to fruition, they leave many wondering how ST Concepts make it all possible.
As a team ST Concepts stands apart from the rest for their consistency and personalised effect on every undertaking, leaving their signature mark on every project. Apart from their creativity, resilience, passion and sincerity as interior designers it all boils down to their unyielding desire for pushing boundaries and improvisation. Quite the risk takers every single one of their undertakings are handled deliberately and with unrivalled fastidiousness, resulting in a track record that is looking to only get better with every new project.
From an unknown firm to a relatively well-known one today, ST Concepts hasn’t demystified the mystery of whether one’s future can be foretold. However, they have proven that through sheer will and sincere devotion a person’s craft and calling are of their own making.
