Located within Kota Kemuning, an award-winning township in Shah Alam, is a PappaRich restaurant that offers authentic Malaysian cuisine that’s borne of age-old traditions and recipes. Based on the expectations of the client, the designers came up with a subtle nostalgic theme that matches the philosophy of the PappaRich brand.
Space within the restaurant is well utilised with some room made available for ease of mobility. Horizontal lines adorn the dining furniture, which is prevalent throughout the restaurant, resulting in a safe and secure feeling to the space. Warm lighting features prominently in this restaurant and leave a sense of comfort, spontaneity, and welcome. Arched form elements with olive green and subtle colours that bring out space, wisdom, and compassion for humanity. The colour combination reflects the aesthetic value of old times. Ribbed glass, rattan, veneer, laminates, and solid timber flooring were used. There is a sense of symmetry with rectangles and squares, primarily on furniture and fixtures arranged in order within the restaurant.
The front porch has scores of chairs and tables aligned for al fresco dining. Task lights provide low-intensity lighting without disrupting diners’ dining experiences. Doors with rattan weaves separate the porch from the main dining area, leaving a distinctive Malaysian stylish impression.
The main dining space is well utilised with adequate room for mobility. Horizontal lines are prevalent throughout structures such as tables and chairs, leaving a sense of comfort throughout the restaurant. There is simplicity in its form. Priority is given to its functionality, allowing diners to seat in pairs and groups of four. Warm lighting creates an ambience that is comfortable and welcoming to dine within. Pendant lights provide gentle illumination to individual dining spaces. The creamy white walls, ceilings and table surfaces become clean canvases that allow focus to be drawn towards the wooden flooring, veneered pillars and comfy olive green seats.
The kitchen utilises an open concept that enables diners to look at kitchen staff in action as they prepare sumptuous meals. Products are well placed at the cashier area for patrons to bring home their favourite drinks and snacks after an enjoyable dining experience in the restaurant. The position of kitchen appliances at the front and back of the kitchen makes preparation of food and beverage orderly.
