New Korean Garden is an architectural concept proposed by Moscow design studio, SKNYPL, for the rooftop of Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture. The proposal was part of the Seoul MARU 2019 Design Competition. An interpretation of the traditional Korean garden which focuses on simplicity, nature and rock arrangements, turquoise, air-filled ETFE material are moulded to resemble plants, stones and hills, and create a space for creativity, relaxation, networking and socialisation.
“Due to the mobility of objects, there are a lot of unique iterations. These iterations allow you to universally interact with visitors. Speakers can prepare the site according to their unique vision and give their own special character. The garden and space of SEOUL MARU ceases to be inert; it becomes a living organism that changes over time,” says SKNYPL.
An exciting new addition for the Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture, as well for the city and people of Seoul, New Korean Garden is a beautiful representation of how unique and sustainable materials can create a fun and multifunctional architectural space for all generations to enjoy.
