Food security, environmental and ecological stewardship, ethical anthropocentrism, and the future of agriculture technology are one of the few topics that were discussed at Future Food 2019 held in line with the theme “Tomorrow” by Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival 2019.
It is a series of keynote speeches, panel discussions and talks from industry experts, farmers, as well as activists to speak on our food sources and how we could start eating sustainably.
The opening ceremony of Future Food was held on the 29th of June 2019 at Black Box, Publika officiated by YB Puan Hajjah Zuraida binti Kamarrudin, Minister of Housing and Local Government and followed on with an interactive sharing session hosted by Langit Collective called “A Bowl of Rice with the New Famers”.
Langit Collective is a social enterprise that aspires to bridge the urban and rural economies while promoting unique and heirloom agricultural produce by smallholder farmers from East Malaysia to larger markets.
Their goal is to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in rural communities through the increased economic opportunities and practice sustainable farming practices within our farming community.
It is also had an eco-farmers bazaar by biodynamic farmers, agri-tech startups and organic food vendors. A farm-to-table concept is brought in to promote knowing where your food comes from and open your mind on the farming scene in Malaysia.
