The majestic allure of royal classical style creates a whole new experience of hospitality
With the majestic Istana Negara (National Palace) as its neighbourhood iconic landmark, the 4-star Dorsett Sri Hartamas Kuala Lumpur is located in an exclusive enclave that is largely populated by Kuala Lumpur’s extensive expatriate community. With their client’s rich historical background in mind, the design team developed a royal classical design concept that reflects significant classiness that fits well for both the hotel operator and the vicinity of the location.
The design theme revolves around the conventionally established elements with a solemn colour palette including walnut, stones, and steel, along with an addition of majestic Lapis Lazuli blue tones to generate an impression of sheer royal elegance. Walnut grains texture and its near monochromic colour scheme are widely used throughout the hotel communal spaces. Such consistency creates a continuation of the royal classic charms that fill the entire interior spaces.
A sense of luxury must be the profound element inside out Dorsett Sri Hartamas. The Porte cochere, a covered porch-like structure at the main entrance, is cladded with checkered pattern of black and white stone finish. Double volume glass windows offer a see-through vision that gives a hint on the hotel’s state-of-the-art elegance.
At the grand lobby, guests are greeted by a huge hand-painted wall that translates the beautiful grains of Alabaster stone. The gold-coloured chrome of the brass sculpture fitting on the feature wall radiates an aura of luxury, which is appealing to the eyes of anyone who beholds the artistic masterpiece. Taking advantage of the 8-metre high ceiling, a gold chrome ceiling panel with suspended light tubes is installed. A rounded feature is introduced to eight main pillars at the lobby, in walnut veneer finish. A gold tint insert lengthens the height and visual of the lobby. The entire inviting ambience blends well with a vast royal and sophisticated atmosphere to welcome guests once they enter the lobby.
To match the hotel’s royal classic design theme, an elegant and luxury treatment is given to the restaurant, where dining spaces are ideally planned with sufficient spaces for interpersonal communication. Couple seats are separated from group seats to enable couples to enjoy more privacy. Likewise, group diners will not need to lower down their voices or restrict themselves from sharing laughter. Use of lines is artfully applied to decorate the communal spaces such as restaurant. Some are diagonal while the rest are parallel, yet ideally symphonising an accent of urban chic, pleasantly elevates the sense of elegance throughout the restaurant. Black frame on the windows highlights the dining spaces, separating the indoor and the outdoor yet allowing maximum natural light to enliven the interiors.
The Mezzanine Floor is the place where all business meetings, functions, casual dining, discussion, and all social activities are held. Guests are led to a pre-function area, and three multi-functional rooms. The space is lined up with walnut panels, brightened up by a longish chandelier that is made of reflective panels and glass tubes, which frames the hall. The fluid patterned carpet delivers a strong character within the space.
The largest Function Room is at 1,500 sq. ft., housing up to 140 people in a theatre setup. The interior is furnished lavishly with copper-tone pendant lamps, mounted onto ceiling with bluish printed wall-covered ceiling. The room is well equipped with a lighting control system, and an audio and visual system. The interior finishing is made perfect with sound insulation panels and draperies. Other rooms can easily cater up to 120 persons; various business functions can be held at a same time, with the flexibility of room setup and different room sizes.
When various design elements converge together, the result is a majestically alluring royal classical style that creates a whole new experience of hospitality.
